| Duties: | Job Description: This position reports to the Head of Circulation Services at May Memorial Library. This position’s primary responsibility is working at the circulation desk at May Memorial Library, but this person may be assigned to work at other library branches as needed.
This position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, checking library materials in and out, assisting library patrons with directional questions and reader’s advisory, issuing library cards, taking payments for fines and fees, assisting with opening and closing the library using established procedures, processing holds, answering the phone, preparing carts for shelving, and other clerical tasks as needed.
This position works 25 hours per week, including at least two nights per week and every other weekend. The remainder of the hours will be scheduled as needed to cover the library’s hours of operation, including morning and afternoon shifts.
Applicants must be able to stand for extended periods of time, reach the top and bottom shelves, lift 40 lbs, as well as push and pull loaded book carts. For additional information, contact Becky Peterson at May Memorial Library, 336-229-3588.

| Qualifications: | Education and Experience: The successful applicant will possess a proven dedication to providing excellent customer service. Candidates should be detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and must possess strong computer skills and a strong work ethic. Must be able to work at a brisk pace, both independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility in scheduling is required. A high school diploma is required, some college is preferred. Previous library experience is desired.
